Our Winter Garden Bursts Into Life

It's winter here but the orchids are in vibrant full bloom in our fourth floor podium level tree-filled leafy garden.

Even the papayas are becoming more and more loaded down with their fruit.

And the bromeliads throwing out fresh new fans of leaves ...

... and crisp spiky flowers ...

What's going to be left for spring to do!

  5. I'm not an Orchid freak but these colors are amazing!!

....a close friend gave me a Bromeliad as a gift last Thanksgiving which is November here in the US..I had never known about this plant (MY psycho neighbor UPSTAIRS ,who's still here, poured ammonia on all my plant boxes last July..so NO flowers till she evacuates cause I OWN and she rents!..in due time my "little pretty!" )...anyway I got my Bromeliad and I was not used to a plant that needed watering once a week and had this strange yellow stalk which was the flower coming up the center..and then WE became friends and I named her BEA..AKA Bea ARTHUR..and several months after..she BEA (the person) dies...so I'm NOT naming anything anymore...cause I also bought the movie "Fatso" and Dom Deluise dies a couple of weeks after...NO MORE NAMES!!

  6. hey tony

yeah, they were / are so amazing i was drawn out into the garden and then back into the house ... for the camera

i only hope you don't get asked by a friend ... to name their child - LOL - i'm sure it's 'only a phase' and that you'll be safely naming flora again soon enough

what's so counter-intuitive is that we're going into winter and the garden is at it's best, botanically speaking

    good to hear from you!
